Wag-Worthy Wonders of the Tetons

The Ultimate Dog-Friendly Teton Guide

I created this post for all of my friendly dog travelers to these parts; welcome to my very first “Paws in the Peaks: exploring the Tetons with your pup” ~ written by Kenai, the Teton Husky

Like most national parks, Grand Teton has limited dog friendly options, but the surrounding areas have so much to offer!  Here are my favorites:

Where to stay?

The best dog-friendly hotel, right in the heart of town square is The Cloudveil. Downtown Jackson is the perfect home base, and the mountain luxury design is incredible.

Where to run?

Dogs can drive through the national parks, both Grand Teton and Yellowstone. Enjoy the views of the majestic mountain range, and keep your eyes peeled for wildlife sightings. Dogs must always be on a leash, and are able to go anywhere a car may go: roads, campgrounds, picnic areas, parking lots.

Pit stop at the scenic overlooks. My parents had to resist the urge to stop at every photo opportunity because it is so scenic. I enjoy the Teton Glacier Turnout and Jenny Lake Overlook. There are also viewpoints and picnic tables around Jackson Lake.

Dogs are allowed on watercraft on Jackson Lake.  Bring a canoe, paddleboard, or kayak! We bring our inflatable kayak and launched it at the Leeks Marina boat ramp. Note that all watercraft entering Grand Teton are required to stop for an AlS inspection, and must have a valid Grand Teton Boat Permit. Visit the NP website for more details.

Where to eat?

Grab pizza & beer at Leeks Pizzeria located right in the marina, with beautiful views of Jackson Lake. Dogs are not allowed on the upper deck of the restaurant, but there are separate dog friendly picnic tables.

What else to do?

Walk around Jackson Town Square with your favorite pet. There are lots of cute shops, several that are dog friendly.

You also have to get a photo next to the iconic antler arches with your puppy!

Visit/hike Teton Village during summer. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort offers a variety of hiking trails, and dogs are able to ride with you on the gondola back down. Teton Village also has restaurants, and is a fun place to walk around if you don’t want to hike.

Where to dine with a dog?

My favorite spots for dog-friendly patio dining:

Snake River Brewing

Persephone

Cafe Genevieve

The Rooftop at the Cloudveil Hotel

Glorietta

The Bistro

Check out my favorite dining in Jackson page for more details on the above.

Most of all, be sure to have fun and enjoy your stay in the Tetons!
